Short Background

I was born and live in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

I learnt art at school but became enthusiastic about it in my mid 20's. I get great satisfaction from painting.

When I started painting I worked obsessively, rarely taking breaks. I got rid of my first 12 paintings as they seemed a little too negative. All the pictures on this site are I have done over the last 10 years or so.

Over the last 5 years I have worked full time doing carpentry and so I've had no choice but to paint only when I've had the time.

Explanation of My Paintings and Inspiration

I've never really given much thought to why I paint these pictures. I have done more conventional pictures and have entered them in galleries but I prefer the style presented here.

My inspiration comes from nature, usually on holidays or when walking.

I know my pictures are mainly surreal. They are my interpretations of various subjects. Objects and figures are often part of larger images or objects. Some characters can be seen differently depending how you view them.

The artists I admire the most are Picasso, Dali and Andy Warhol.
